Hoi Polloi Coffee Roasters

Specialty coffee roastery in Seoul's Gongneung-dong neighborhood, run by an English-speaking owner. Great beans, fresh pastries, and a laid-back vibe that'll make you a regular.
Hoi Polloi Coffee Roasters (formerly Groove Coffee) is a small-batch specialty roastery tucked into a quiet corner of Gongneung-dong in northern Seoul. Owner Chris roasts all the beans in-house and the menu rotates with single-origin offerings from Ethiopia, Costa Rica, and beyond. The cafe has built a loyal following among both Korean coffee nerds and the local expat community. Beyond the coffee, the homemade pastries are a serious draw. The salt bread and fig bars come out of the oven fresh and have a reputation for being some of the best cafe snacks in the neighborhood. The space itself is cozy with wood-panel interiors, big windows, and a curated playlist that sets the mood. Whether you're a specialty coffee enthusiast looking for a proper pour-over or just want a good latte in a relaxed setting, Hoi Polloi delivers. The owner speaks fluent English and is happy to walk you through the current roast selection. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.
