Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival 2026

One of Korea's most visually stunning festivals. Thousands of colorful lanterns float along the Namgang River in Jinju, creating breathtaking reflections on the water. The tradition dates back to the Imjin War (1592), when lanterns were floated on the river as a military signal. Today the festival features massive lantern installations, cultural performances, a parade, fireworks, and food trucks with global cuisine. Often compared to Thailand's Loy Krathong water lantern festival.
